Investors, founders, researchers and healthcare leaders gathered June 16 at the University of Kansas Medical Center for an Oread Angels’ showcase focused on healthcare innovation.
Hosted in the Health Education Building’s Ad Astra Room, the afternoon combined startup showcases, networking and a featured discussion with physician-scientist Matthias A. Salathe, whose remarks explored the intersection of research, innovation and real-world healthcare impact.
The event highlighted four emerging companies working to address challenges across diagnostics, drug delivery, disease monitoring and patient care:
- Love Lifesciences, creator of UNIPEN, the first therapeutic-agnostic injection system designed to improve efficiency, safety, and precision across a wide range of therapies.
- Phoreus Biotech, which is developing next-generation peptide nanoparticles to overcome longstanding drug delivery challenges.
- Vytas Bio, which is advancing earlier cancer detection through exosome-based liquid biopsy diagnostics.
- Enhance Health, which is enabling continuous, at-home monitoring for chronic liver and kidney disease.
The healthcare-focused event provided Oread Angels members with an opportunity to hear directly from founders, explore emerging investment opportunities and engage with leaders across the region’s innovation ecosystem.
As the Oread Angels network continues to grow, events like these help strengthen connections between innovators and investors while increasing visibility for promising companies emerging from the University of Kansas ecosystem and beyond.
